Rumblings of a Mass Effect project have risen again recently, with Mac Walters, project director on Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, claiming plans for a film were dropped in favor of adapting the game's lofty story into a TV series. Indeed, Shepard's gender, class, first name, and facial appearance can all be altered to the player's wishes in the Mass Effect games, indicating the appeal of the character has very little to do with their appearance. While some may highlight the difference in race between Elba and Shepard, it should be noted that Shepard is no stranger to change.
